IOS Setup Guide

Before You Begin!

Once you complete your payment, your eSIM will be shared with you on WhatsApp.
You should be able to see and save the QR code and activation codes for your eSIM.
Before you begin setup, make sure, airplane mode is OFF and WiFi is connected.

Step 1: Activating eSIM

If you can use the QR code:
You will need to send the QR code to another device near you (like your laptop, your tablet, or your friend's phone) and scan it using your iPhone's camera).
Go to your iPhone Settings > Cellular/Mobile > Add eSIM > Use QR Code > Complete your setup.

If you can’t use the QR code:
Go to your iPhone Settings > Cellular/Mobile > Add eSIM > Use QR Code > Enter Details Manually > Copy & Paste the “SMDP+ Address” and “Activation Code”. > click Next > Complete your setup.

Your eSIM will take 1-2 minutes to activate. Please make sure your device screen doesn't go dark during the process.

Step 2: IOS Settings

1. When you see "Cellular Setup Complete", click "Continue"
2. For Default Line, select Primary and click "Continue"
3. For iMessage & Facetime, select Primary and click "Continue" (this is important)
4. For Cellular/Mobile Data, select Primary and turn ON "Allow Data Switching" then click "Continue"

Please note or memorize the label assigned to your new eSIM by iOS. It will most probably be labeled as Secondary / Personal / Travel / Business or Cellular Data. You will need it in the next step, eSIM Settings.

Step 3: eSIM Settings

For this part of settings configuration, you need to go to your iPhone Settings.

3.1 Turn Data Roaming ON for your new eSIM
Go to iPhone Settings > Cellular/Mobile > scroll down to SIMs section > Click on the new eSIM (It is often labeled Personal, Secondary, Travel, Business or Cellular Data.) > Turn 'Data Roaming' ON for your new eSIM

3.2 Turn Data Roaming OFF for your Primary SIM
Go to iPhone Settings > Cellular/Mobile > scroll down to SIMs section > click on your Primary SIM (the one with your phone number under it) > Turn 'Data Roaming' OFF for your Primary SIM (this will stop data roaming charges while abroad)

3.3 Configure Cellular/Mobile Data Settings
Go to iPhone Settings > Cellular/Mobile > scroll down to SIMs section > S‍elect Primary > Turn ON 'Allow Data Switching'
- Select new eSIM when you travel abroad
- Select your Primary SIM when you return home

3.4 eSIM: Low-Data Mode
Go to iPhone Settings -> Cellular/Mobile -> scroll down to SIMs section > Click on the new eSIM > Click on Data Mode > Select Low Data Mode
If you want to make sure your device does not use your new eSIM for background tasks (like app or OS updates), please change your new eSIM settings to "Low Data Mode" to avoid unexpected consumption. Low Data Mode has no impact on data connectivity or speed when you're using your device.

Notes

WhateSIM is a data-only service:
As long as you have your Primary SIM's 'Data Roaming' OFF you will not be charged for data roaming.
If you have your Calls and Messages set to your regular SIM, your operator may still charge you.
If you want to avoid roaming charges on calls and SMS as well, you can turn OFF your regular SIM when traveling abroad.
Please note: with your Primary SIM off, you won't be able to receive SMS messages.
